We were appointed following the client’s unsuccessful planning application for an earlier scheme. Our approach proposed 11 residential units, arranged either side of a central circulation zone containing a lift and staircase, but sought to articulate the form of the building in response to concerns raised by the planners.

A mix of one and two bed flats terminate in two duplex units at roof level incorporating double height spaces, each served by roof terraces. This layout informs the massing of the building, which gently steps up the hill. In response to the woodland setting, materials include light self-coloured render and cedar boarding. Windows incorporate louvred shutters as opening vents.
