In conjunction with the consulting structural engineers, we designed this steel bridge to fulfil the functional requirement of simply linking two buildings.
However its location at the entrance to the Phase 1 buildings, which in combination with a ceremonial flight of steps below, also required a symbolic gesture as a gateway to the new development.
The lightweight bridge, suspended from a single angled mast by six stainless steel guy ropes, contrasts with the mass of the adjacent buildings, and provides a visual reference point within the campus.
The bridge was largely pre-assembled and comprises an aluminium deck and stainless steel handrails.
