The Working Men’s College is the oldest adult education college in Europe, and is based in Camden its purpose designed building dating from 1904, which is Grade 11 Listed. Subsequent extensions and alterations in 1936 and 1968 introduced significant complexity in its layout and circulation.

We prepared a masterplan to create more appropriate and flexible teaching spaces and to address way finding, legibility, DDA access. The challenge was also to create a new social space or heart to the College, which it presently lacks.

A phased development programme was developed to allow the work to be completed with minimum disruption to the college, and the initial phase has now been completed.
