The project was the second phase of a performance related partnering arrangement with the Trust involving the provision of a new acute services facility to accommodate:
7 operating theatre departments
Clinical pathology laboratories
Endoscopy unit
16 bed critical care unit
Sterile supplies department

Using an established palette of materials of terracotta panels and curtain walling, we transformed an agreed clinical plan into a three dimensional form. The operating theatres are expressed as external zinc clad ‘drawers’ with the laboratories contained below shallow butterfly roofs.
