A small triangular backland plot forms the site for this new house. Formerly occupied by a single storey shed, the planning advice sought to restrict any new development to single storey to protect amenity and retain a sense of openness.

Our response was to create an L-shaped split level house, with a small courtyard at basement level, enclosed by a curved oak screen. Materials include a burnt stock brick with copper bronze windows and flashings and a green roof effectively conceals the building when viewed from above.
