We were appointed to develop a masterplan for the University’s campus which facilitated a phased implementation programme. The 40acre site incorporates 17 acres of protected woodland with a 15m change of level and contained a number of listed structures, buildings of architectural interest.

We designed and implemented the initial phase of the masterplan which included a 4,000 m² Learning Resource Centre, a 3,000 m² Teaching Block, 1000m2 of office accommodation, a 250-seat lecture theatre and a 700 space multi storey car park.

The new facilities area arranged around a central concourse and landscaped courtyards provide daylight and natural ventilation , and the new buildings feature buff brickwork with oversailing monopitch copper coloured aluminium roofs.

This first phase of the redevelopment of Kingston University has been well handled. the slope of the woodland site has been exploited to create an attractive stepped street, useful for ease of orientation and as a student gathering place
