PMA were appointed through an invited design competition to redesign the main hospital entrance, café and pharmacy. The new design expresses the significance of the entrance as the prime point of entry to the hospital, provide a welcoming new reception area and cafe area.

A new canopy provides shelter for vehicle drop off and leads to a two storey entrance hall, lit at high level with clerestorey windows, which act as an entrance lantern after dark.

Finished  with horizontal terracotta cladding providing a precise, contemporary and welcoming entrance façade.

The new main entrance gives patients confidence in the hospital. The impact is of a strong organization that is professional in nature. The area feels calm and quiet despite the numbers of patients and staff moving through it. This gives the impression that the whole organization is ready to deal with anything which is so important for patients attending our services.
