The client required a new extension to their existing School of Management to form a new school for Postgraduate MBA users to provide a new 100 seat lecture theatre, 5 break-out rooms and 10 lecturer’s offices.

An iconic new image was sought which would raise the school’s profile and attract premium fee students. Our response created a new two storey pavilion set in front of the existing school, separated by a glazed internal street. A two-storey atrium provides the entrance to the School, providing access to the lecture theatre which is formed in glulam timber, expressed as a sculpted oval form, clad in standing seam zinc.

We are delighted with the success of this building and the opportunities for creative teaching and learning this imaginative new extension provides. the dramatic scale and shape of the external form makes it a landmark on the campus, while the intimacy of the internal space is unexpected and striking. it provides the School of Management with a strong statement of high-quality and leading design.
