Independent Primary School, North London

Paul Murphy Architects were appointed through an invited tender to prepare designs for the reconfiguration and extension of this independent Catholic school, to create a co-educational, two form entry school, on a tight urban site just north of Regent’s Park.

Our proposals involve a two-phase approach which creates a new entrance, relocates the kitchen and servery to create a new office area; the main body of work reconfigures and extends the early years accommodation at ground floor level with four new classrooms above.

Using the analogy of a forest, we are seeking to use a cross laminated timber structure and screen-printed images of trees on glazing and timber cladding to unify the new interventions.
